The Bubec Sculpture Studio (Sochařské studio Bubec) is an independent artist's cooperative project that was founded in March 2000 at Řeporyje in the Prague 5 district. Řeporyje is an old village founded in the 11th century located in the southwest corner of Prague in the vicinity of Prokopské valley, one of the rare and beautiful natural reserves of Prague. The Bubec Studio is designed for artists who require facilities suitable for focused monumental sculpture work and who are particularly interested in meeting members of the czech and international artists' community and working in a new environment.
The Bubec Sculpture Studio is located in a former warehouse of 1200m2, which is located on a land plot of 3000 m2. The hall has an office, dressing room, shower and toilet. Up to 5 artists may work in the hall with 3 more working outside. At this time, the Studio only has elementary equipment: desks with vices, hand tools, fork-lift 2t, mechanical pulley, welding machine (380V), 2 pieces of hoist 3t, grinding machine etc.,however there are plans to gradually acquire more equipment.
Artists may apply for residence stays lasting from 1 to 5 months, which will take place every year from April 1st to October 31st. The residency fee, which includes separate accommodation in Prague, is 750 USD (18.500 CZK) per month. The studio and FCCA can assist visiting artists in purchasing or leasing materials or other equipment and can facilitate making contacts concerning possible exhibition sites for finished works, however can not promise the public presentation of artists works in Prague or the Czech Republic and require that all residency artists take all finished works with them when they leave. Selected works could be placed at the public spaces in the village.
